In some cases, the Schwab Foundation is willing to consider funding for planning grants and/or carefully controlled innovative pilot programs with an eye toward more substantial funding, if outcomes warrant it.
Pilot programs selected for funding must show promise of being replicable in a variety of educational settings. It is strongly suggested that applicants who wish the Foundation to consider grant requests for planning and/or pilot projects submit a two-page concept letter outlining the project to the Foundation. If there is interest, the applicant will be invited to submit a full proposal.
Concept letters (two pages, max) for planning and/or pilot programs can be submitted during both open grant cycles in order for the Board to determine whether a full proposal will be requested. NOTE: Concept letters are not required for ongoing or previously funded programs.
